Our Glass Teapots are European manufactured from heat-resistant household glass - a history of excellence.
The history of glass household products is the history of Jenaer Glas. Otto Schott made the pioneering development of borosilicate glass® in the "Glastechnische Laboratorium Schott & Genossen"in 1887. Its high resistance to chemical influences and temperature differences was the basis for the subsequent triumphs of Jenaer Glas®. As early as the Twenties, bottling glasses, baby's milk bottles, cooking and baking dishes from Jena were to be found in households. During this period, the Jenaer Glaswerk developed into an internationally renowned producer of special glass. A new era of product design dawned In the thirties. The combination of glass production with the famous design concepts of the BAUHAUS was the start of modern industrial design at the Jenaer Glaswerk.
High-quality products were created, in terms of both use and design. Names like Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Ilse Decho and Gerhard Marcks were milestones along this route. Nowadays, SCHOTT JENAer GLAS GmbH no longer manufactures household products but have sold their moulds to another European manufacture, maintaining the same level of quality that Jenaer Glass have delivered for so many years.
