By itself, the 'chai' of chai tea is merely the generic word for tea in much of the world, but for many English speakers, particularly in the Western hemisphere, "chai" or "chai latte" automatically implies a spicy, milky tea mix.
Originating in India, Masala chai (Hindi मसाला चाय: masālā chī, "spiced tea") is a beverage made by brewing tea and milk with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs plus, of course, sugar. Chai tea variations are rapidly growing as the range of ingredients expands to encompass many tastes.
Regardless of variety the
